☕ Caffeine (Coffee, Tea, Energy Drinks, Cola)⚠️ High Risk
Caffeine is chemically similar to theophylline. Combined, they can cause theophylline toxicity: nausea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, tremors, seizures, and cardiac arrhythmias.
How it works
Theophylline and caffeine are both methylxanthines that competitively inhibit adenosine receptors. Combined stimulation can cause toxic CNS and cardiovascular effects.
What to do: Minimize or eliminate caffeine intake while taking theophylline. Report palpitations, tremors, or nausea immediately.
